About This Tour

Berat is a picturesque city located on the Osum River in central Albania, famous for its characteristic white Ottoman-style houses. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2008, the city stands out for its unique architectural style, resulting from the coexistence of many civilizations over the centuries.

Berat Castle, built on top of a hill in the 4th century BC, is a true pearl of this ancient city. Surrounded by stone walls with 24 watchtowers, it is one of the most beautiful castles in Albania.

The castle houses the Onufri Museum, named after the 16th-century master of icon painting, Onufri. The museum has a rich collection of 173 unique exhibits from Albanian churches and monasteries. The exhibition, spread over several rooms, presents the works of outstanding artists such as Onufri, his son Nikolla, Onufër Qiprioti, David Selenica, and many others, including anonymous creators.
